2026 Tour de France in Paris: Experience the Final Stage from Montmartre

On Sunday, July 26, 2026, the Tour de France peloton will once again pass through the streets of Montmartre before heading to the Champs-Élysées for the yellow jersey coronation. How about experiencing this historic moment from one of the best spots in Paris?

The Tour de France 2026: A Historic Edition

The 113th edition of the Grande Boucle will kick off on July 4, 2026, from Barcelona, a first in the history of the race with a 19.7-kilometer team time trial through the Catalan capital. On the program: 21 stages, 3,492 kilometers, five mountain ranges (Pyrenees, Massif Central, Vosges, Jura, and Alps) and a legendary finish in Paris.

Among this edition's highlights, two consecutive finishes at Alpe d'Huez (stages 19 and 20) are anticipated, including the second via the unprecedented Col de Sarenne, never before used in the Tour. The highest point will be the Galibier Pass, at 2,642 meters above sea level.

The Last Stage: Thoiry → Paris, 130 km of Celebration

On Sunday, July 26, the 21st and final stage will depart from Thoiry, in the Yvelines, to reach the Champs-Élysées over 130 kilometers. But the major novelty introduced in 2025 and continued in 2026 is the passage through Montmartre and the rue Lepic.

The riders will climb the famous cobbled street of the Montmartre hill three times, providing a spectacle worthy of the greatest cycling classics. Last year, thousands of spectators gathered around the Sacré-Cœur and along rue Lepic in a festive and exceptional atmosphere.

In 2026, the final stretch is placed about 15 kilometers from the last passage in Montmartre, giving sprinters one last chance to shine on the Champs-Élysées.

Practical Tips to Attend the Last Stage

Where to Stand?

The rue Lepic, linking place Blanche to the top of Montmartre hill, is one of the best observation points. Its lower part, near boulevard de Clichy, is particularly accessible and lively.

For a more spectacular view, the surroundings of the Sacré-Cœur offer an exceptional panorama of the event. However, it is recommended to arrive early, as the best spots quickly fill up.

What Time to Arrive?

The stage's start is scheduled for late morning from Thoiry. Riders should reach Paris in the early afternoon, with passes through rue Lepic estimated between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

To fully enjoy the atmosphere and secure a good spot, it is recommended to settle in from 1 p.m.

Walking Route from Hôtel Opéra Liège

From the hotel located at 9 rue de Liège, head to rue de Clichy, then towards place de Clichy. Continue on boulevard de Clichy to place Blanche, at the foot of rue Lepic.
